Abstract

The transformation of organic wastes into compost is an ancient technique and easy to do that allow to obtain a fertilizer by economic, rational and sure way. The application the compost to land without treatment or with inefficient treatment represents a risk to environment and to animal and humans health because of the movement and survival in the soil of bacterial pathogens present in the compost for example Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, Vibrio cholerae, E. coli. The article shows these aspect and the importance of microbiologic analysis and the sanitary control of these fertilizers in the evaluation process of them.
