EVALUATION OF THE OUTTURN OF TIMBER BIOMASS OF THE F. MUELL. PELLITA EUCALYPTUS IN VIÑALES; PINAR DEL RÍO, CUBA

Abstract
The present work comprises a determination of the outturn of timber biomass from the F. Muell. pellita Eucalyptus in “The Albino Region” of the corresponding town of Viñales; Pinar del Río Province. A plot of land of 500 m2 was create and valuations were archived of the diameter at 1.3 m total height and also the total timber portion and weight trees timber and foliage to 25 trees of that diametric class most representatives the study area following the methodogy established by the CATIE (1984). In relation to the ecological conditions of that zone and increase in fuel wood of 12.67 t/ha/year was obtained, with energy potential of 253.01 MJ/ha/year with represents equivalence in petroleum of 5.75 t/ha/year. Those results can be utilized to assess the demand for a source of renewable energy in places of similar conditions in the province of Pinar del Río.
