Abstract

A prompt route for the implementation of the National Action Program of Struggle against Desertification and Drought (NAP) in affected countries is its integration to the strategies, programs and sustainable developing plans within the countries. With efforts in multisectoral and multidisciplinary interconnections, integral results search, establishment of synergies with implementation programs of other environmental Conventions, that complement the high degree of sensitization and political will of the Government, as well as the decisive support and incorporation of the NAP actions within the National Economy Plan and other national financing routes, it has been achieved to obtain a positive experience in the initial implementation phases of the UNCCD on Cuba. Nevertheless, the mobilized resources to date result insufficient compared with the huge needs, increased by the cost and extension of the actions. This topic continues being the principal difficulty in the application of the NAP.
