Evaluation of microbiological indicators of fecal contamination in waters of recreational use
Main Article Content
Abstract
One study was carried out in two areas of coastal waters with recreational uses of the north coast of the Havana City among the months of July 2000 to May 2001, determining in both cases the microbiological indicators that are demanded inside the Cuban Standards.. The sampling methodology was according to the established approaches and guidelines respect but they also took into account the results of similar studies carried out in these areas by other authors. The opposing results were compared with the values that settle down before in the norm mentioned being the values in the two areas inside the parameters of obligatory execution and in occasions below the values guides in each case. The correlation values were calculated among the indicative total coliforms-faecal coliforms and faecal coliforms- faecal streptococci, for areas and for sampling points finding narrow correlation among the total and fecal coliforms.
