Abstract

The objective was to evaluate the impact of different techniques and levels of inorganic fertilization on the growth rate and yield of Capsicum chinense in the field. The treatments comprised absolute control (AC), 100% broadcast fertilization (BF100), 50% banded in-ground fertilization (BBF50), and 100% banded burial fertilization (BBF100). The findings indicated that BBF100 resulted in an increase of 11.4% in root length, 14.3% in stem thickness, and a máximum of 17.1% in height. For the quality variables, BBF100 increased the diameter of equatorial (20%) and polar fruit diameters (20.1%), fruit number (199.4%), and yield (250%). The variables that positively correlated with performance were root length and fruit number. The utilization of fertilizers in a buried band facilitated the growth and yield of C. chinense, owing to their proximity to the root.
