Cleaner Production Current Focus and its projections in the national levels

Abstract

It examines the changing focus and projections of the initiatives and programs of Cleaner Production (CP) in the international arena and its potential contribution to meeting the goals and objectives in global and domestic environment. We discuss the need to broaden the scope of these programs as essential step forward towards sustainable development. Reference is made to the National Plan for the Introduction of Cleaner Production in Corporate Environmental Management, as a strategic framework that fosters the adoption in Cuba of an integrated approach to corporate policies and the definition of the projections of work in this area. We conclude that the concepts and objectives of PML programs have undergone major changes over the last decade due to the need to adopt more comprehensive and inclusive, involving products throughout their life cycle and contribute to meeting the objectives and goals established in the international environmental conventions and protocols.
