Abstract
El Valle de San Antonio del Sur is located in the coastal strip Guantánamo - Maisí with Sub-arid climate (tropical dry weight, DW), P / ETP own 0.54 desertified areas. Where there have been changes in land use that led to changes in land cover, he went up ruining your productivity to reduce wasteful limits was selected as a case study to determine its desertification, develop technological solutions to rehabilitate. The existing soils are differentiated Fluvisol north and Halomórfico Solonchak in the South. Acting factors caused degrading processes. aridity, salinisation, compaction, organic degradation and loss of bases were identified and implemented technology solutions in both soils, consisting of: organic amendments, reforestation, planting of salt tolerant pastures, establishment of irrigation and drainage systems and location microvaquerías that allowed the ecological improvement.
