CLEANER PRODUCTION IN THE TOURISM SECTOR

Abstract
Different options for the introduction of Cleaner Production practices in the national tourism sector are presented, as an essential condition for the improvement of its environmental and economical management. The need of adopting an integrative approach in which the technological changes must be complemented with the enforcement of organizational measures directed to the rational use of the available resources, the optimization of the operation of the existing technologies and the minimization of waste generation. It is concluded that the application of Cleaner Production concept is a basic premise to be granted with environmental certifications.
