Danger of disaster health origin in animal population in Guantánamo province

Abstract

An investigative-descriptive-evaluative study was carried out on the danger of disasters of health origin caused by serious epizootics, which have a potentially significant impact in the epidemiological, economic, environmental, social and political order. Theoretical methods such as analysis and synthesis, documentary analysis, non-participatory observation, historical-logical and the systemic-structural method were used. Exotic diseases that could affect the territory were identified, endemic diseases were characterized with frequencies of affectation and / or appearance in each area, 593 Biological Hazard Objectives were identified, Group I is the one that most affects with 73.3% of the total of In the three existing groups, the DANGER category of introduction and / or penetration of exotic pathogens present in the country was evaluated in High, Medium and / or Low in nine groups of animal species in the 82 popular councils that Guantánamo has. The study provides essential information for risk management and decision-making by government bodies in the different instances in disaster prevention and is part of the study of danger, vulnerability and risks due to health disasters in the face of serious epizootics.
