Abstract

This study focused on a first-generation digester, fixed dome type operational volume 23 m³ of secondary treatment and stabilization pond located in a private smallholder farm pork specialty. The effluent from the anaerobic treatment is used as the main source for fertigation and application of organic fertilizer for their crops. To achieve the expected results are evaluated the biological potential available in the pig-farm waste and identified the key physical and chemical parameters of the residuals, by characterizing them in the laboratory, also carried out a thorough literature review to explicitly reflects the progress made at international and national swine waste treatment and subsequent use of sludge from the treatment and liquid waste. Laboratory tests were conducted based on the measurement of the biological potential of a significant number of samples taken from the actual process that yielded concrete results on the best application of residual variants to the digester in the degree of dilution that are applied at while a study physical - the main chemical components of the influent to the treatment plant to determine inter alia the variability of pH and COD in anaerobic treatment conditions. The technology studied and proposed in this project to its generalization to other private farms pig production reaches high levels of removal of organic matter and yield in the production of biogas that match historical averages recorded in the literature for this type Biogas treatment 0.4 m³ / m³ reactor, equivalent to 9.3 m³ Biogas daily. On the other hand, the variant of application of residual pig 1:1 dilution proved to be the most appropriate for this type of treatment to achieve a higher degree of removal of organic matter and better hydraulic retention times
